Where to Anchor
Before you embark on your houseboating adventure our experienced Shipsmasters will spend time with you teaching you to not only drive your home cruiser, but navigate to the safe anchorages for each nights stop. We also have a water taxi to drop off gear needed and advise on the best spots for that particular time. Popular anchorages from Tin Can Bay along the Great Sandy Strait for fishing, crabbing and swimming are: Teebar Creek, Kauri Creek, Pelican Bay, Snout Point, Garry's Anchor-age, Figtree Creek, Ungowa, Kingfisher Bay and River Heads. However there are many opportunities to stop and fish or swim along the way. Take advantage of being the captain of your boat house and anchor when you feel the need to jump in the calm waters between Fraser Island and Tin Can Bay. Camping is permitted on Fraser Island, however a permit is needed prior to travel there, and a 4WD is recommended to explore the whole of Fraser Island.
